New autism therapy center for children opens in Katy
Apara Autism Center, a therapy center dedicated to enriching the lives of children with autism, has opened a new Katy location. Apara, which also has a location in Sugar Land, uses applied behavioral analysis to treat autism and related disorders.
Apara CEO Tyler Moore was inspired to establish the center 15 years ago when he struggled to find a successful treatment for his daughter, who is on the autism spectrum.
Amanda Smith, clinical director of Apara, said that Apara serves as a full treatment facility. In addition to ABA, the center also offers training for the families of children with autism and provides interactive programs like yoga.
“We really wanted to be that company and that family support where (clients) can come to us with any questions they might have, and we help them by either providing that service or by directing them to someone who can provide that service,” Smith explained.
ABA is the clinic’s primary focus. Using ABA, Apara’s board certified behavior analysts evaluate each child on an individual basis to assess the most effective care for that client. No two patients receive the exact same treatment.
