Drawn to Apara Autism Center in Sugar Land – Meet Amberly
Join us in welcoming Amberly to Apara Sugar Land ABA therapy facility! Amberly grew up in South Florida and knew from a young age that she wanted to work with individuals with disabilities, specifically children. Before joining Apara’s Sugar Land location, she received her Bachelor of Science in Family and Child Sciences as well as Psychology from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. During this time, she received an internship at an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) clinic.
She fell in love with the children she worked with and the science behind ABA. Finding her passion and knowing this was the career path she wanted to pursue. Amberly stayed at Florida State University and received her Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis under the direction of Dr. Jon Bailey, Dr. Al Murphy and Dr. Amy Polick.
Amberly has experience working in a variety of settings such as ABA clinics, school settings, residential facilities, and in-home settings. She has also worked with diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties, Anxiety and Depression.
Amberly was drawn to Apara in Sugar Land because of our family-centered approach and opportunities for the children to engage in extracurricular activities. She believes therapy should be an area of stress relief for families rather than another burden. Amberly loves her job and finds such joy in seeing her clients succeed in every aspect of their life.
When not working, Amberly enjoys volunteering and fostering with a local animal rescue organization – Rescued Pets Movement. Also, cheering on the Florida State football team (Go Seminoles!), hanging out with her own dog, Tink and being with family and friends.
