Applied Behavior Analysis

ABA is an evidence-based treatment for individuals diagnosed with autism and/or related disorders.  ABA therapy and its principles are derived from years of scientific research. Since 1999, the Center for Disease Control has endorsed ABA and since then the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid along with the National Institute of Mental Health have also listed ABA as the Standard of Care of individuals with Autism.

ABA therapy is based on the principles of learning which when implemented at an individualized level can lead to a decrease in problem behaviors while increasing appropriate and wanted behaviors such as communication and daily living skills.

Apara Autism Center is a center-based program dedicated to the principles of ABA while collaborating with the family and community resources to help your child reach their fullest potential.  Our BCBA’s will create individualized treatment plans for each client based on their initial and ongoing assessments.

Caregiver Training

Caregiver training is an integral part to our ABA therapy program.  We believe that the more training a parent has in ABA and their child’s specific programming, the better outcome we will see in the future.  Each family will have one on one meetings with their BCBA and will be highly involved with their child’s programming and goals.  We are a team at Apara, and we want to collaborate with all!

Feeding Program

Our feeding is designed to work with those individuals who engage in problem behaviors around eating new or common foods.  Feeding therapy is based on behavioral principles and evidence-based practices to address concerns such as texture sensitivity, general mealtime problem behaviors, and refusal to feed themselves among others.  The Apara Autism Center’s feeding program will also be individualized and implemented with additional parent/caregiver consent after all physiological and oral motor concerns are ruled out by medical professionals.

Spectrum Social Skills Yoga

Spectrum Social Skills Yoga – This one hour class provides a safe place for kids who struggle to connect and build relationships during a key stage in their social development.   Strength, self-empowerment, confidence, interpersonal skills development and connecting to joy are the goals of each class.    We are creating connections through movement and mindfulness in a structured, safe, and inclusive environment.   We offer classes, private sessions, and classroom strategies for kids on the Autism Spectrum, Rett Syndrome, and/or other developmental disabilities.  You can enroll for a month of classes for $100 per month or single classes for $25 per class.  Note – this class is not supervised by a BCBA.

Community and Partner Training

Collaboration in the community is key when helping an individual reach their fullest potential.  Apara Autism Center strongly believes in training the community to help understand and protect our individuals living with Autism and their families.  Our trainings will be individualized for each community partner and will target the incorporation of the principles of ABA therapy into everyday life for a person with Autism.  Trainings can be provided to schools, daycare facilities, medical professionals, first responders and the like.  Apara’s goal in our Community Training program is to help the community understand Autism and how they can help a family in need.
