Hi everybody! My name is Meaghan Kantrowitz, and I am elated to join the Apara Memorial team as the new Clinic Director!

I fell in love with ABA during an elective course in undergrad at my alma mater, Nazareth College of Rochester, titled “The Psychology of Learning.” It all just clicked, and I quickly began tutoring other students in the basics of our science in our Psych Lab!

I also began interning and volunteering with ABA organizations in the western New York area. After wrapping up my undergrad, I moved to Washington, DC, where I became a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), providing primarily in-home services. After some time in that position, I began my master’s program at George Mason University in Virginia. I obtained my master’s in Special Education with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis and was certified as a BCBA in February 2017. I moved north to Maine to practice as a BCBA in both the home and school environments for a couple of years before moving to Houston in 2019.  In Houston, I have provided primarily center-based services as both a BCBA and senior BCBA. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals with various developmental, intellectual, and physical disabilities between the ages of 1.5- and 35-year-old.

I am passionate about early intervention, compassionate and trauma-informed care, supervision best practices, and caregiver training and involvement. I believe that high-quality services involve viewing the whole individual and the factors that impact their lives (e.g., learning histories, cultural factors, stakeholder preferences, and input). I am thrilled that Apara’s mission and values so closely align with my professional philosophies and priorities, specifically collaborating with families and others involved in the lives of our clients.

When I am not working, you can find me exploring with my husband, daughter, and pup! We are big fans of getting out for hiking, kayaking, traveling, and camping. I am a major coffee enthusiast and take a lot of pride in brewing a GREAT cup of coffee and cooking for my family and friends!
