Hi everyone! My name is Stephanie Lopez, I was born in Quito-Ecuador and moved to the United States when I was 11 years old. Growing up in a Latin country I realized the importance of educating others on different disabilities and the importance of helping those families in need.

I have worked with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 2013, with ages ranging from 2 years old to adulthood. I attended the University of Houston-Downtown, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. As a student there, I was able to work at the Disability Services Office where I assisted individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities with their accommodations.

“I love what I do because I can see the small and huge milestones that the kiddos achieve every day! It is truly an amazing feeling knowing that we are helping so many families and their little ones! I also love what I do because I can help the Spanish-speaking community understand and learn more about what ABA is and help with resources so that everyone is able to receive the services they need!”

After graduation, my passion to help others and serve the community continued when I became a Registered Behavior Technician at an autism treatment center in Spring, TX. During my time as a Registered Behavior Technician, I knew that I wanted to grow my knowledge and desire to help others, so I decided to pursue a Master’s Degree to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. I then attended Arizona State University and graduated with a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis. I then worked at the Local IDD Authority and gained more experience with the adult population. I have been with APARA since September 2021 and have been Cypress’ Clinic Director since March 2022.

In my free time, you can find me spending time with my husband and furbabies. I am a huge animal advocate, and I am usually rescuing a cat, a dog, or any animal that needs help. I have two dogs and a cat, Sonny the American Pitbull Terrier, Canela the Chihuahua, and Leo the Tabby. But there is always another fur friend at my house as a foster or until I can find them a foster or rescue. I am also a Brazilian JiuJitsu practitioner, and I will soon earn my brown belt! I enjoy going to small markets and being outdoors with my family.
