Hello! My name is Lauren Schwass and I have recently joined the Apara team as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago IL (go Cubs!) and moved to Houston about 2 years ago.

I have always known from a young age that I wanted to work to make a difference in the lives of individuals with special needs.  My little sister was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome when I was seven. She has brought so much joy and love into my life. She laid the path for me to find my passion for behavior analysis. I learned about behavior analysis at my little sister’s school when I was a junior in college studying Psychology. I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology and immediately enrolled in a Master’s program in behavior analysis. I earned a Master’s of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis and passed my exam to become a BCBA. Following my certification, I began working as a BCBA in a therapeutic day school for children and young adults with Autism. I absolutely fell in love with behavior analysis therapeutics! Since then I have worked with individuals ranging in age from 2-22 in both the clinical and home settings. I love working with clients of all ages, and being able to see the positive impact ABA therapy has on their lives.

I was drawn to Apara Autism Center for its family-oriented approach and the mission to provide a supportive and compassionate environment for their clients. Throughout my career, I have strived to provide my clients with the quality of treatment and care that I would want and expect for my little sister. I believe Apara’s mission coincides with that perfectly. I believe each member of the Apara team aims to provide the highest quality of service to its clients, as well as an environment of empathy and respect. All of which makes me proud to be a member of the Apara team.
